Jenny’s gourmet bakery – cronuts

Cronuts are one of those crazes, like ramen burgers. I’m a little more drawn to cronuts than ramen burgers. They are croissant dough shaped like doughnuts, iced and filled (maybe closer to a berliner?)

Jenny’s gourmet bakery has a pretty solid rep for producing amazing cronuts, so I checked it out. They are busy, with some of the flavours already or close to selling out when I arrived on a weekday at around 1:00 pm.

I’m a little in love with salted caramel, so I happy went for this guy. It was pretty intense. The cronut itself is good, but I’m a little unsold by the flavours. More salt required – the caramel overpowers the senses. I ate half of this.

Next, I went for the lemon meringue.

This guy was disappointing, more-so than the first. So much potential, with little realised. The lemon custard had no zing to refresh the tastebuds.

Overall, it’s a delightful execution lacking a bit of flavour. I’ll have to try From Scratch next time I’m in Adelaide!
