Fork on the Road is a fantastic venture run by Splash Adelaide. Find out more about it through this link: Splash Adelaide’s Fork on the Road. Like it on Facebook. Go to their events. It is fantastic, and you’ll be supporting small businesses in Adelaide.
I have been to two events so far, and sampled many wares. I’ve included photos from both events in this post and sadly do not have photos of every single thing I ate. Somehow.
Salted Lime and Chocolate brownies from Four Seeds
These are fantastic, rich brownies from Four Seeds. The Salted Lime was nice and salty but I couldn’t taste the lime. They are decadent and definitely moreish. Just how brownies should be.
From Archie the Pastizzi bus!
This is a Pastizzi, a Maltese flaky pastry which cane come with a multitude of flavour combinations. This was a mushy pea and lamb from memory. Find Archie the Pastizzi bus on Facebook. Crispy on the outside, warm, tender flavourful fillings on the inside.
This did contain Burger Theory’s #2
Burger Theory has a cult following in Adelaide. I ate it before I even took a photo. It is magical, a meaty, medium cooked patty with the #2, which is crispy pancetta, onion confit and blue cheese dressing. A fantastic, dark and smoky flavour combination set off perfectly by the sweet, soft bun sourced from Bread Top. Any time you see these guys, there is always a big line up! I’ve tried the #1 as well, but the flavours did not do as much for me.
Pink Lemonade and Peach Soda
Pink Lemonade and Peach Soda from one of the stalls… can’t rememeber the name, but highly recommended! Nice fizz, could have done with a little bit more syrup but I love sugar so that could just be my preference!
Pastrami on Rye and Pulled Pork Bun from Sneaky Pickle
Sneaky Pickle… another well known food truck, and for good reason! Sneaky Pickle make great sandwiches and burgers with flavour AND heat. I’ve seen Jay Weatherill eat them, they must be good!
Last but not least…
Me holding a Chimi Chorizo from Chimichurri grill
This is me with a Chimi Chorizo from Chimichurri Grill. I love Chorizo, and I enjoyed this. It’s a longer bun with a chorizo chopped in half along with some other nice toppings. The chimi sauce has some nice spice to it. Highly recommended.
Out of everything, my favourite is probably the #2 from Burger Theory, simply because the dark, smoky flavours really appeal to me. However it’s hard to be disappointed with anything I’ve tried so far!
